Rainwater collection is fun. This 300 square foot tarp funnels rain into the 35 gallon trash can that has a sump pump in the bottom. A float switch pumps it out to the 275 gallon storage tank, then shuts off automatically. I drain the stored water down to the greenhouse where it is mixed with organic fertilizer such as fish emulsion, Maxi-Crop seaweed extract, Humic Acid, and Therm-X.

Local ground water from the well is alkaline; it leaves behind white calcium deposits. During the summer the plant water has to be treated to reduce the PH by adding distilled white vinegar. using winter rain water allows the plants to be flushed out with really pure H2O. They love it!
